A Vitamin C IV,
Starting With Whether You Need It

A vitamin C IV delivers vitamin C into a vein along with fluids. An internal medicine specialist decides on the formulation and whether to proceed after your consultation. It is not an IV that treats illness or prevents colds.

VEI Clinic, Gangnam — VEI IV · Vitamin C

Who It May Suit

  • People who feel easily worn out after long workdays
  • People who ate and drank too little after being unwell
  • People who want to discuss an antioxidant IV alongside sleep, diet and stress management

What's in It

The specialist tailors the formulation and amount to you after your consultation.

  • IV fluids for hydration
  • Vitamin C
  • Minerals or B vitamins, when needed

What to Expect, and the Limits

A vitamin C IV is used for hydration and looking after your condition, and it has not been proven to prevent or treat colds or flu. It is most meaningful alongside enough rest, fluids, meals and any care you need.

High-dose vitamin C for specific purposes is different from an everyday wellness IV and requires a separate evaluation. Results can differ from person to person, and the specialist decides whether it is suitable for you after your consultation.

Precautions and Safety

Please let us know before the IV if any of the following apply. When a higher dose is considered, a G6PD test or a review of recent test results may be needed.

  • Kidney disease, or a history of kidney stones or oxalate problems
  • G6PD deficiency (a red blood cell enzyme deficiency)
  • Iron overload conditions such as hemochromatosis
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Current medications such as diuretics or anticoagulants

How the Visit Works

During the IV you may briefly feel chills or flushing, notice a metallic taste, or have vein irritation or a small bruise. If dizziness persists or you have chest pain or trouble breathing, tell us right away.

  • Check-in and history: symptoms, goals, current medications and allergies
  • Exam: vital signs, with tests if needed
  • Consultation and consent: deciding whether to proceed and on the amount
  • IV session: given in a private room with monitoring
  • Discharge guidance: advice on fluids, rest and daily care

The VEI Clinic Approach

An internal medicine specialist sees you in person before prescribing, and all IVs are given in private rooms. If we find that tests or medication are more important for you, we guide you in that direction first.

After the IV, we recommend drinking plenty of water for the rest of the day, eating a light, balanced meal and resting. If symptoms continue or get worse, please come back for a follow-up visit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will a vitamin C IV get rid of my cold?

It is not an IV that treats colds. If we find after your consultation that tests or medication matter more, we will guide you on those options.

How quickly will I feel different?

Some people feel lighter within a few hours to a day, but responses differ from person to person.

Is high-dose vitamin C available?

Higher doses require additional testing and are different from an everyday wellness IV. The specialist assesses each case individually.

Can I go about my day right after the IV?

Most people can return to their normal day after the visit. If you tend to feel dizzy after IVs, keep your schedule light that day.
